Porcelain I – Carolien Bosch

Porcelain I – Carolien Bosch

Porcelain vs Butterflies

Porcelain and butterflies appear to have little in common, but nothing could be further from the truth. Both are known for their symbolic meaning of luck, beauty and fragility. In terms of varieties and colours porcelain is as diverse as butterflies: it ranges from classic white to hand painted in bright colours. Porcelain is a common utensil, but it is also displayed as an artwork in a showcase. Although porcelain is hard to the touch, it’s fragile, just like the butterfly. The interaction between porcelain and butterflies shows how beauty and fragility enhance one another and how the most common objects can transform into something beautiful.
